Dir. Dziga Vertov

USSR 1929 / 68’

documentary, silent

This classic film by Dziga Vertov will be one of two cinematographic depictions of Moscow presented during this year’s DoFA. The picture shows one day in the life of the capital. The dynamic montage emphasises the quick pace of life in the city, the huge speed of time in the gigantic metropolis. However, this constant movement is more than just a direct account of life in the streets. Not lacking reflection, this experiment is intended to come up with a universal language of cinematography.
