TŁO + BRDA (Zofia Jaworowska i Michał Sikorski)
Zofia Jaworowska - social activist working in the third sector for many years. She has developed communication strategies at the intersection of activism and creative work, coordinating projects at the Roman Czernecki Educational Foundation, the Kosciuszko Foundation and SEXED.PL. She developed the Refugees Welcome Polska programme, which supports refugees in accessing housing. Thanks to the experience she gained there, she was able to set up the Zasoby Group – one of the most effective initiatives for responding to the housing crisis of Ukrainian refugees in Poland – and coordinate its activities. Founder of the BRDA Foundation, in which she expands the space for good, safe and accessible housing. She combines this with mapping the social potential of housing in response to the needs of vulnerable groups. The foundation’s first project called OKNO (WINDOW) is based on the idea of collecting window joinery to be donated to social organisations in Ukraine for reuse. This will be the basis for a scalable programme of cataloguing second-hand building materials in Poland.
Michał Sikorski - architect and urban planner with experience in the implementation of public and large-scale urban planning projects. Having obtained his diploma in Paris (École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Paris-La Villette), from 2008 to 2017 he collaborated with the Belgian architect Xaveer De Geyter (XDGA), for whom he carried out numerous projects, including the masterplan of the Paris-Saclay city-campus being constructed in France. Co-founder of the French design office UN1ON. From 2017 to 2021, he co-created the spatial development visions of the University of Warsaw as the architect in charge of the Bureau of Innovation in Academic Space (BIPA UW). In addition to design, he has also conducted research and worked as a teacher, among others at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Warsaw Urban Planning and Architecture Commission. Currently he teaches Urban Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology and runs his architectural studio TŁO.
Zofia Jaworowska and Michał Sikorski will be tutors of the DoFA '22 student design workshop and panellists of the discussion #2.
